From Renwick Hospitality Group—the team behind ART SoHo, Lindens, Foxtail, and more—Lulla has opened its doors in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.
With a design by locally based firm Stonehill Taylor, the restaurant pays homage to Italian cuisine through a quintessentially New York lens. Lulla’s serene and welcoming atmosphere sets the backdrop for reimagined food and drink classics that draw inspiration from the fresh, seasonal flavors of Italy, with a touch of the city’s distinctive edge.
Situated on two floors of the Motto by Hilton New York City Chelsea, Lulla offers guests an inviting experience reminiscent of a European getaway. “Overall, the inspiration for the space was to exude an elevated appeal while remaining welcoming,” says Gary Wallach, cofounder of Renwick Hospitality. “We [worked with] design firm Stonehill Taylor to bring our inspiration to life and create the interior aesthetic in Lulla. ”
The downstairs lounge is a celebration of opulence and sophistication, where a modular sunken seating area takes centerstage. Art deco-inspired fixtures and carefully selected furniture give the space an eclectic charm.
Meanwhile, the upstairs lounge marries modern architectural elements with exquisitely crafted furnishings and luxe accent pieces that add a touch of glamour. Floor-to-ceiling window panels provide an immersive city view of the bustling energy below. The space also features a year-round greenhouse terrace area.
“Our skylit dining room and cathedral ceilings provide an airiness to Lulla that is difficult to find in New York,” adds Renwick cofounder Carsten Johannsen. “From our plush sunken lounge area to our main dining room, there is a beautiful elegance to Lulla that feels modern and luxe while still remaining playful.”
