Nestled in the heart of Vancouver’s Chinatown, Meo channels the hedonistic allure of the 1970s and ’80s.
Designed by Canadian studio Ste Marie, the cocktail bar and restaurant is a sultry counterpart to its sister venues, Bao Bei and Kissa Tanto.
Drawing inspiration from a Hong Kong nightlife photo by Vancouver photographer Greg Girard and the clandestine love motels of a bygone era, the dimly lit space is wrapped in plush pink drapery, lush floral carpeting, and punctuated by bold red accents.
Pendant lights from the 1970s hang against dark wood-paneled walls, while an old-school jukebox—reminiscent of Girard’s imagery—casts a nostalgic glow over the richly textured setting.
The bar itself extends the rumpus room-meets-bedroom vibe, featuring an eclectic array of lighting, thrifted curios gathered during the owner’s travels through Taiwan, and contemporary touches.
