Chef José Andrés has unveiled cocktail concept Nubeluz across the 50th floor of the Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad. Crafted by London- and New York-based Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, Nubeluz, which is a portmanteau of the Spanish words for “cloud” and “light,” radiates like a jewelbox in the sky, with a stylish modernism set against the Manhattan skyline.
“A clean and streamlined approach was taken to the interiors, with bold, organic forms and a curated scheme of contemporary FF&E pieces,” says Martin Brudnizki. “This is a bar where we wanted guests to feel glamorous and carefree—it is a destination in its own right so it needed to feel differentiated from the hotel whilst still feeling cohesive with the hotel brand.”
Various textures are accentuated by a two-tone color palette to establish an elegant, layered visual appeal. Green marble floors and high-gloss lacquered ceilings span Nubeluz, while doors amplify the reflective qualities of the materiality.
A showstopping bar occupies the space, cast aglow against wall fascia for an ethereal ambiance. “Our interior is a celebration of light, so we decided to use lots of reflective surfaces and materials, as well as creating illuminated effects with onyx at the central bar,” Brudnizki adds. Boasting 270-degree views of the cityscape, the interior space is also flanked by two outdoor terraces.
The newly opened Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad also features Zaytinya, a Mediterranean concept by Andrés on the ground floor.
