The former Café Bos near Amsterdam’s Vondelpark has been reborn following a thorough renovation by locally based firm Studio Modijefsky. Now known as Bonnie, the traditional bistro bar welcomes visitors with a warm, classic appeal and palette that includes abundant mirrors, tiling, old fashioned wood, and neon lighting.
Bonded with the sidewalk via large dual windows and yellow stained glass, Bonnie accommodates guests across nearly 1,600 square feet. The main bar features a simple symmetrical pattern carved into its oak face, while veined marble and oak elements infuse a contemporary ethos into the space. Glossy dark purple tiles and neon coral tones also accent the bar.
Squared-patterned souterrain flooring stretches from the flexible mezzanine space into the dining room, where wooden wall panels are disrupted by mirrors, orange tiles, and hexagonal wall sconces. Traditional furniture evokes playful twists, along with muted red leather seating and chessboard-topped tables clad with chessboard tops.
