1 Hotels has expanded its U.S. footprint with the launch of a second property in California: 1 Hotel San Francisco. Located on the Embarcadero across from San Francisco Bay, the property draws upon the rich history of the city through a sustainable design concept conceived by the in-house team at SH Hotels & Resorts and NICOLEHOLLIS. SH also partnered with Dawson Design Associates on the hotel’s 186 guestrooms and 14 suites.
“1 Hotel San Francisco is an inspiring example of what our brand stands for,” says 1 Hotels founder and Starwood Capital Group CEO Barry Sternlicht. “It is a tangible extension of our vision and purpose: to place holistic wellness at the forefront of our operations for our guests, local communities, and the planet. This vibrant and eclectic city has long been at the forefront of driving sustainable change in architecture and design. Inspired by that rich history, our goal is to infuse an urban oasis with the natural beauty of the Northern California landscape and the sensibility of this dynamic community.”
The new urban oasis references the natural splendor of the Bay Area with a palette of earth tones, raw materials, and layered textures. The lobby is lined with reclaimed wood floors comprised of lumber salvaged from historic barns and industrial buildings, while sustainably sourced redwood adorns elevator landings and corridors. Native greenery, exposed brick, warm terracotta accents, and rustic stone further reinforce the influence of nature alongside hand-loomed rugs and carpeting crafted from organic plant fibers and recyclable wool.
Onsite amenities include the forthcoming indoor-outdoor café and lounge Terrene, the Bamford Wellness spa, and a 24-hour fitness center. 1 Hotel San Francisco boasts 5,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor meeting and event spaces, including a 1,750-square-foot ballroom, boardroom, and outdoor terraces, which occupy the hotel’s upper levels against a backdrop of panoramic water views.
