Banyan Tree Group has announced the launch of its first flagship property in Europe: Angsana Corfu. The luxury resort and spa boasts a design by locally based architecture firm ACM and interiors by New York’s Rockwell Group. Perched upon a hilltop, the new concep offers boasts 360-degree views of the idyllic Benitses Bay, and features a simple materiality that complements the surrounding greenery, Mediterranean gardens, and olive tree groves.
Wood and glass predominantly characterize interiors to reinforce the water and landscape views. Four signature restaurants and seven bars span the property, and all include outdoor terraces set against panoramic natural vistas. F&B options include Greek fine dining concept Botrini’s; Asian fusion eatery Koh; all-day restaurant Ruen Romsai; and contemporary tavern Sofrito.
Angsana Corfu’s wellness sanctuary, Angsana Spa, comprises 11 treatment rooms overlooking the bay, dual indoor pools, an outdoor infinity pool, a yoga pavilion, fitness center, and juice bar. Six event spaces are also housed onsite—ranging from sky bars and rooftop terraces to private indoor and outdoor ballrooms.
The resort also features 159 guestrooms and suites and 37 one- to four-bedroom pool villas. Pool villas, in particular, were crafted to evoke the authenticity of a private local residence complete with outdoor pavilions, terracotta rooftops, and private pools. “All the pool villa buildings are single-story or two-story of simple Corfiot architecture, incorporating features of traditional elements without imitations,” says ACM.
