Casona Roma Norte has opened in Mexico City, the latest addition to the Hamak Hotels collection.
Housed in a restored 1920s mansion, the 32-room Casona Roma Norte merges historical charm with modern sophistication, reflecting the vibrant evolution of the city’s Colonia Roma neighborhood.
The destination also features six dining concepts curated by chef Aquiles Chavez and restaurateur and author Claudio Poblete.
Inside Casona Roma Norte
The Belle Époque building merges various architectural styles, showcasing intricate details and Art Nouveau-inspired motifs.
Renovated by local firm Colonnier Arquitectos with interiors by Simple Arquitectura, the property features high Porfirian ceilings, grand spaces, and rooms adorned with earthy tones and marble-clad bathrooms.
Art takes centerstage
Throughout the hotel, art transforms spaces into gallery-like environments.
A mural by visual artist James Bullough makes a bold statement, while rooms feature photography by Santiago Arau. Hallways, meanwhile, are lined with dreamlike works by local artist and psychoanalyst Carolina Barrios, while Maria Rec’s cutout collages grace the lobby.
Culinary offerings
Casona Roma Norte’s dining options are diverse, including Suchi Nipona & Sinaloa Cuisine for fine dining, cocktail bar Akamba, comfort cuisine is offered at Aquiles, and the Matcha Saloon by La Macaria, which marries the ambiance of a Japanese tea room with the patisserie expertise of La Macaria. The Mirror Speakeasy offers Art Deco-inspired elegance with global and Mexican influences, while Holden Rooftop provides an elevated escape.
