Foster Supply Hospitality has launched their latest property, the DeBruce. Nestled in New York’s western Catskills region just outside the town of Livingston Manor, the 14-room lodge is a serene retreat, featuring a culinary program from chef Aksel Theilkuhl.
Originally built in the 1880s, Foster Supply Hospitality’s husband-and-wife team, Kirsten and Sims Foster, restored the DeBruce with a nod to its history. Welcomed by a classic country front porch, guests are led into the foyer to the check-in desk divided by the Great Room and Conservatory. Boasting views of the valley, the Great Room’s design is reflective of a contemporary lodge. The building’s original light fixtures, a trail map station, and cozy seating arrangements complement repurposed beams from the original Beaverkill Covered Bridge designed by local wood worker Kurt Knuth. The Conservatory hosts an additional seating area, as well as a fieldstone fireplace made from over 100-year-old Willowemoc river stone.
With a natural palette of gray and earthly green hues, guestrooms have a straightforward and clean approach to encourage relaxation. Custom light fixtures sourced from local artists Kathie Fitzgerald and Jen McGlashan create an airy space paired with natural light from windows, while rooms located on the backside of the building enjoy sweeping views of the landscape and river.
Tucked beneath the lodge is the Club Room, an inviting bar with its own separate entrance. Walls are clad with locally reclaimed wood and a river stone fireplace that warms the space. Just off the Club Room is the Tackle Room, where guests are assigned a locker for the length of their stay and can keep their equipment such as fishing poles, hiking boots, and skis.
