Hilton has broken ground on the first new-build hotel to be constructed in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania since 2001. Slated for completion in 2022, Hotel West + Main will join Hilton’s Tapestry Collection. DLR Group is spearheading architecture for the project, while Interior Image Group (IIG) is overseeing the interior design.
“The emphasis on storytelling is the inspiration and driving force behind all of our work, and this project was no exception,” says Leslie Schultz, senior vice president of design at IIG. “As we immersed ourselves in the local history and culture, we saw an opportunity to use design to strike a modern balance between Conshohocken’s industrial past and the influence of the Main Line’s established prosperity. We decided to turn history on its head by creating a destination that brings the neighboring communities together and welcomes people from all walks of life.”
Previously the site of a 146-year-old historic firehouse, the 127-room boutique hotel will be crafted with a modern, masculine palette that expresses a refined contrast and a polished patina. The hotel structure will be linked to a historic local firehouse, which will inform new ornate details crafted to complement the heritage of the site. Upon entry, visitors will be greeted by lobby bar and lounge 1874 Social, an indoor-outdoor F&B option linked to a patio via operable garage doors. Gastropub Hook & Ladder Skybar will also be housed where the firehouse’s dormitory once stood.
