Hilton Vienna Waterfront has reopened following the redesign of its guestrooms and suites, an expanded leisure and event space, and the addition of OXBO restaurant and bar.
Revamped by interior design studio THDP, the hotel—housed in a historic 1911 grain silo—seamlessly blends urban history, Viennese lifestyle, and contemporary comfort.
The design of the 340 guestrooms draws on the industrial heritage of the building and its riverside location, reflected in a palette of deep blue, rust orange, and brown tones. Minimalist furnishings also nod to the structure’s former use, while geometric patterned carpet echoes the secessionist movement’s love for distinctive patterns.
“The industrial character and the previous use were maintained, thus using the colors of the wheat field and the Danube that along its route, not only connects regions, but also times,” says Nicholas J Hickson, cofounder of THDP.
Meanwhile, the new OXBO restaurant and bar exudes a relaxed and warm atmosphere, with interiors bedecked in walnut finishes, polished copper and brass, and industrial elements inspired by the key side boat cranes outside.
The Hilton Vienna Waterfront’s wellness area features a massage room, relaxation room, and three saunas, including a panoramic one with views of the Danube river.
The spa is rendered in “a creamy, woody color palette inspired by the nature of Donau-Auen National Park, a national park along the Danube river, which features lush forests and diverse flora and fauna,” says Hickson. “It was also very important for us to increase the connectivity of the interiors of the spa to its view through the windows.”
Sustainability is also a key focus at Hilton Vienna Waterfront, which runs on 100 percent renewable energy, utilizes energy-saving window films and water-efficient fixtures, employs AI to reduce food waste, and sources seasonal ingredients from local suppliers.
