Hotel Saint Augustine, a boutique hotel from Austin-based hospitality group Bunkhouse, will open its doors this fall in Houston.
Located in the cultural heart of the city in Montrose’s Museum District, the new-build property will feature 71 rooms and suites spread across five small buildings, which will also include all-day restaurant Perseid, a lobby bar, event space, and cloistered circular courtyard pool.
Hotel Saint Augustine’s design
The hotel’s interiors will be designed by Post Company—a New York- and Wyoming-based design studio whose projects were recognized in the 20th annual HD Awards—in collaboration with Bunkhouse.
The inviting and whimsical design concept takes into consideration the nearby Menil Collection and Menil Drawing Institute. Artwork, for instance, is kept to a minimum in response to being next to one of the country’s finest arts institutions. The decision also considers guests who, after spending time at the museum, may appreciate a serene environment.
In keeping with Bunkhouse’s Texas roots, Hotel Saint Augustine features architecture by Lake|Flato and landscape architecture from Ten Eyck, both based in the Lone Star State.
The property will be connected by open-air bridges and porches, in addition to four lushly landscaped courtyards and winding outdoor pathways.
