Vision Hospitality Group has announced that its latest lifestyle concept, Kinley Chattanooga Southside, is slated to open in the Tennessee city’s entertainment district this April.
Evoking a small city appeal and the warmth of Southern hospitality, the 64-room property will feature a design from locally based architecture firm Tinker Ma and Streetsense. “The design approach seeks to complement and ‘complete the street’ as a true urban infill project that weaves into the existing energy of the Southside,” says Tinker Ma principal Thomas Palmer. “The building exterior is a homage between Chattanooga’s industrial heritage and the industrial architecture found in larger cities, such as Chicago, with exposed brick structural framework infilled by large floor-to-ceiling windows nestled into the urban fabric of Chattanooga’s historic Southside.”
Interiors aim to blur the line between the local and guest experience with an openness that tethers the hotel to the surrounding community. A coffee bar and lounge—detailed with handmade, locally sourced furnishings in rich colorways and earthen tones—will serve as social hubs across the lower level.
In public spaces, the exhibition of local artists’ work will animate the hotel and instill a firm, artful sense of place. “It effortlessly embodies a true local spirit, a focus on the interplay between the inside and outside world, and a down-to-earth sensibility,” Streetsense technical director Laura Madge says of the project. “Kinley Chattanooga Southside’s design evolved with distinct experiences in mind.”
