Lively Hotel, part of Hilton’s Tapestry Collection, has opened at OAK, a 20-acre mixed-use destination in Oklahoma City.
Pickard Design Studio, a female-led firm based in Dallas, completed the interiors of the hotel—including its 132 guestrooms and amenity spaces—weaving together the city’s rich history with nods to the Oklahoma state bird, the scissor-tailed flycatcher.
Guestrooms embrace the bird’s striking color palette—persimmon, pink, orange, blue, and black—via artwork and textiles. The V-back design of the desk chairs even takes cues from the flycatcher’s signature open tail while in flight.

Throughout the hotel, the design narrative balances masculine and feminine elements. This is evident in the restaurant’s central curved banquette, which is framed by bold metal railings, and guestrooms, where vertical walnut slats are paired with metal fixtures with curved forms.
Art takes centerstage with a bespoke collection curated by Kevin Barry Art Advisory. A large metal installation in the lobby that pays homage to Victor Hugo’s evocative poem, The Bird, is one standout.
Adding a touch of local lore, the bar wall features a three-dimensional string mural inspired by a French hot air balloonist who famously floated above Oklahoma City in 1889 to claim land.
“With every project, our goal is to tell a captivating story through custom design,” says Sarah Pickard, founder of Pickard Design Studio. “We could not be more proud of our work at Lively Hotel, where every light fixture, color, accessory, or piece of art flows together to create a cohesive hospitality experience that is unlike anything in the region. As the anchor for OAK’s incredible mixed-use community, Lively Hotel is a dynamic, authentic, and sophisticated environment for any vacationer, staycationer, or business traveler.”
