Locke, the lifestyle aparthotel brand from hospitality company edyn, is expanding its UK footprint through the acquisition of the NH London Kensington hotel. The property, which will be Locke’s sixth in the UK capital, will open under its new banner in June 2023 following a refresh by London-based design studios Atelier Ochre and House of DrĂ©.
“I’m very proud to announce edyn’s first acquisition in West London, underlining our commitment to our dynamic home market as we continue to build our presence across the city and broader Europe with all of our brands,” says edyn CEO Stephen McCall. “London remains one of Europe’s most desirable destinations, with hotel demand in June hitting its highest level in almost three years. Locke’s innovative hybrid model, which blends apartment living with high concept design and a range of immersive cultural experiences, has proven its appeal across Europe and this acquisition marks the latest chapter in the brand’s growth story.
The redesign will draw inspiration from the notable Art Deco style of the Derry & Toms department store and the golden age of Kensington, channeling midcentury glamour with many private gardens.
In addition to 121 units ranging from studios to one- and two-bedrooms with open-plan living spaces, the property will be home to a lobby and common areas including a bar, restaurant, and coworking and meeting spaces.
