The Mirbeau Companies have revealed Mirbeau Inn & Spa Beacon, a 64-acre retreat within the historic Howland Family Estate (also known as the Tioronda Estate) in New York’s Hudson Valley region.
The estate was originally constructed by architects Frederick Clarke Withers, Richard Morris Hunt, and landscape architect Henry Winthrop Sargent.
Designed by Withers in 1859, the mansion—which has hosted notable guests like Marilyn Monroe, Zelda Fitzgerald, and Jackie Gleason—will be the centerpiece of the resort with a fully restored library, dining rooms, and a pipe-organ music room.
Slated to open in 2026, Mirbeau Beacon, will blend the Gothic style of the mansion (which is being restored to National Park Service Historic standards) with Mirbeau’s French-inspired, residential design aesthetic. Onsite ponds and gardens will be patterned after Claude Monet’s garden in Giverny.
Meanwhile, a newly constructed Chateau building will house most of the property’s 72 guestrooms and suites.
At the heart of the retreat is the 25,000-square-foot spa—the largest in Mirbeau’s portfolio—with 21 treatment rooms, a meditation pool, decompression room, and an outdoor aqua terrace with hot pools, cabanas, and a bar.
Dining options will include the historic Howland Mansion dining rooms, a bistro and wine bar, and an outdoor champagne terrace.
The resort will also offer 3,000-square-feet of meeting and conference space, including an outdoor tented event area that can accommodate up to 250 guests.
