Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has launched the development on new projects in Reno, Nevada and Raleigh, North Carolina.
Slated to open in late 2024, the forthcoming Kimpton in Reno will occupy 16 stories of a 20-story mixed-use tower, which recently broke ground. Obermeier Sheykhet Architecture will serve as the architect on the project, will mark the company’s first outpost in Nevada. The project will feature upscale residences, 55,000 square feet of office space, and 270 guestrooms. The hotel will also include an outdoor pool, a day spa, fitness center, four F&B options, and nearly 16,000 square feet of meeting and event space. “Reno represents a unique intersection of work and play, with a growing tech scene and world-class entertainment venues,” says Kimpton CEO Mike DeFrino. “That mentality fits perfectly with Kimpton’s, and we know our guests, whether traveling for leisure or for business, will find a reason to come back or extend their stay to maximize on the opportunities for exploration in northern Nevada.”
Kimpton will also expand its footprint into downtown Raleigh in late 2025. The upcoming North Carolina outpost will debut as part of a mixed-use new build designed by Earl Swensson Associates, Inc. with interiors spearheaded by INC Architecture & Design. A trio of restaurant and bar concepts will open onsite—including a rooftop bar and lounge—alongside a 24-hour fitness center and more than 6,500 square feet of meeting and event space. Spread across the first six floors of the building, the 179-key Kimpton in Raleigh will house nearly 20 suites. “We’ve had great success with our Kimptons in North Carolina, and we look forward to offering Raleigh as a new destination in our portfolio,” DeFrino adds. “We think our design-led brand and welcoming, innovative restaurants and bars will really resonate with the city’s locals and visitors alike.”
