Palisociety has again expanded its footprint on the West Coast with the debut of the Palihouse Santa Barbara. Occupying the former site of the Santa Barbara School of the Arts, the 24-room boutique hotel in the city’s historic Presidio neighborhood continues to honor its Spanish Colonial-inspired aesthetic.
“Santa Barbara has long been known for five-star beach retreats and luxurious getaways, but we saw a need for a smaller, truly unique offering that could offer a European club-style environment with all the touch points of a quaint inn where personality, design, and understated service could shine,” says Avi Brosh, founder of Palisociety. “As a brand based in Los Angeles, we know that Santa Barbara has infinite allure for weekend travel and quick getaways for people up and down the coast—and beyond—and we’re excited to bring something to the market that feels very welcome and new.”
The two-story hotel greets guests in the lobby with an assortment of café-style seating that organically links to the site’s internal courtyard. Accessed through French doors, the European-style outdoor space is populated by marble tables, floral armchairs, and woven dining chairs shaded by pink umbrellas. The hotel’s sparkling pool is also tucked away in the rear of the property, accented by abundant greenery. Back inside, the cozy, sundrenched living room is apt for work or socializing, while the adjacent bar is illuminated with a pink glass chandelier. A private dining room is housed alongside a spacious fitness center as well.
Ranging from 365 to 820 square feet, king and double queen guestrooms are awash in a light blue palette that references the city’s coastal setting. A mix of vintage and custom furniture support a residential-style atmosphere, accented by gas fireplaces and outdoor spaces, including balconies, patios, and Juliette balconies.
