The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts has opened the Azure Qiantang, a Luxury Collection Hotel, in Hangzhou, the capital of China’s Zhejiang province. The Luxury Collection brand, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, includes six hotels as part of its portfolio in China.
“2014 marks a milestone year for Starwood’s Luxury Collection brand in China, with two exceptional hotels joining a glittering ensemble of 88 hotels around the world,” says Paul James, global brand leader of the Luxury Collection, St. Regis, and W Hotels Worldwide.
Designed by architect Pierre-Yves Rochon, the hotel is housed in a blue glass structure, referencing the waves of the Qiantang River. The Azure Qiantang is named after “Memories of the South,” a piece written by Tang dynasty poet Bai Juyi. The hotel boasts 205 rooms and suites, all with views of the Qiantang River.
