Outdoor hospitality brand Collective Retreats has introduced the Conservatory, a collection of design-forward hotels for nature enthusiasts.
Each located in a distinctive setting, the outdoor-centric retreats blur the lines between the indoors and the outdoors, inviting guests to fully immerse in their surroundings.
The Conservatory’s first partners include: Hinter in Mont Tremblant, Quebec; Casa TO in Oaxaca, Mexico; Casa MUSA in Loma Bonita, Guerrero; Kokos Huis in Franschhoek, South Africa; GrayBarns in Silvermine, Connecticut; Hill Farm by Sagra in Sunderland, Vermont; Piaule in Catskill, New York; and the Malin in New York and Nashville.
Nestled in the forests of Mont Tremblant, Hinter features modern cabins inspired by Scandinavian minimalism and Japanese design.
Casa TO is a oasis located in the southernmost point of Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca—Mexico’s surfing capital. The property blends traditional and avant-garde design with nine suites that embody contemporary aesthetics, complemented by furniture showcasing the work of local artisans and ateliers.
Tucked between the Sierra Madres mountains and Mexico’s Pacific Ocean is Casa MUSA, a beachfront property that stretches across 177 acres of jungle and a mile of untouched coastline. It features five contemporary suites, an infinity pool, and palapa bar.
Kokos Huis is a 200-year-old farmhouse-turned-hotel in the heart of South Africa’s wine country, Riebeek-Kasteel. Restored by local craftspeople and decorated with artisan wares, the hotel symbolizes collaboration and design. It includes six bedrooms and three private studio spaces with kitchens and terraces.
In Silvermine, Connecticut, GrayBarns is a reimagined historical textile mill situated along the Silvermine River featuring a six-bedroom inn, tavern, barn, and mercantile. The property began as a small textile factory at the turn of the 19th century, then a speakeasy during the 1920s before legitimizing itself after the end of Prohibition. It then operated throughout the ’60s as a classic country inn before being reimagined by the Glazer family into GrayBarns.
The modern and bucolic meet at Hill Farm by Sagra, a 70-acre property in Sunderland, Vermont with 11 inn rooms and five private cottages. Hill Farm boasts walking trails along the Battenkill River, patios overlooking scenic mountain views, and a vegetable farm.
In New York’s Catskills region lies Piaule, a 24-room landscape hotel and spa where modernist luxury cabins float above the forest floor, accompanied by a spa and a full-service restaurant. The hotel embodies a design inspired by Scandinavian and Japanese styles, connecting guests to nature with few distractions—simply adorned cabins feature a full glass wall facing the forest, which opens to welcome in the surrounding landscape.
Finally, the Malin, with locations in New York (including a recently opened West Village outpost) and Nashville, is a members clubs for professionals to work amongst high design with minimal distraction.
