Los Angeles-based firms KFA Architecture and Studio Collective have completed the design of the Shay hotel. The boutique concept, which is located within the Ivy Station building in Los Angeles’ Culver City section, is part of the Destination by Hyatt brand.
The Shay comprises 148 guestrooms and suites, as well as a range of indoor-outdoor amenities that maximize views of the Hollywood Hills. A central fireplace serves as the key focal point of the lobby, where motifs of wood and steel pay homage to the former transportation site’s industrial roots
The ground floor of the hotel houses Etta, a restaurant from Chicago chef Danny Grant, while a lobby bar and the Celestina rooftop bar round out the F&B options.
In addition to the hotel, the 500,000-square-foot Ivy Station community features a range of mixed-use spaces—including commercial offices, a public park, and 200 residences—adjacent to the LA Metro Expo Culver City Station. Residential amenities include private courtyards, coworking space, a fitness center, pool, yoga studio, and lobby as well.
