Michelin-starred chef Sujan Sarkar has debuted Indienne New York inside Henry Hall, a luxury residential tower in Hudson Yards.
Following the success of Sarkar’s Chicago flagship, the Manhattan outpost presents a tasting menu shaped by his global training and rooted in the regional diversity of the Indian subcontinent. Indienne is the first of three concepts he plans to introduce to the building, positioning Henry Hall as a new multi-concept culinary destination.
Inside the Hudson Yards eatery
The 3,200-square-foot interior, designed in collaboration with locally based designer Mapa Mueller, seats up to 34 guests. The space opens up as a series of distinct yet cohesive rooms, anchored by dramatic coffered ceilings with woven, grasscloth-style panels, thoughtfully crafted millwork, and framed passageways.
The entry sets a warm welcome: a golden ochre room with a cascading glass chandelier establishes an immediate sense of occasion. From there, the first dining room introduces a lighter register, with lime-washed walls in warm cream tones, wood wainscoting, and upholstered seating that includes Indienne’s signature blush-toned banquettes. White linen-draped tables and floor-to-ceiling drapery create an intimate, almost residential quality.
The palette deepens as guests move into the main dining room, where burgundy leather wallcoverings and warm wood detailing create a more enveloping atmosphere. A second sculptural chandelier, comprising handblown glass shades with radial fluting, anchors the room, while a direct view into the open kitchen underscores the restaurant’s emphasis on craft and transparency.
Lighting up Indienne
Layered lighting enhances the space’s textural depth and reinforces its considered, refined ambiance. Bright, Holi-inspired artwork by Chicago-based artist Ken Andjulis brings moments of vibrancy, and creates a visual connection between the New York location and its Chicago counterpart.
Private dining with a bold touch
A separate private dining room for up to 30 guests takes a more expressive approach. Patterned wall treatments and statement chandeliers give the space a bold, atmospheric quality distinct from the main dining areas.
