The W Barcelona has unveiled W Lounge, an energetic hangout in the heart of the hotel. A re-invention of the W hotel’s Living Room, the opening follows a $1.3 million dollar renovation.

Led by London-based United Design Partnership, the lounge infuses the vibrant colors of Barcelona with the cosmopolitan city’s dynamic energy and cool Mediterranean style.
“The new W Lounge evokes a sensory experience that reflects the wow factor of the W brand, while the colors and materials chosen convey the unique nautical, vibrant, playful, and social personality of W Barcelona,” says Stephen Crawley, design director of United Design Partnership. “Our inspiration is based on the theme of ‘sky and sea by day and night’ as W Lounge offers a spectacular view of these two elements coming together on the edge of one of the most vibrant cities in the world.”
Expect a range of subtle shades of blue, pink, purple, orange, and indigo-and to capture this sunset palette, the designers combined colors that change with the time of the day. For instance, the entrance and bar area use blue, turquoise, white, and silver, while a black strip in the middle of the lounge draws attention out to the sea view.
The DJ is set at the back of the VIP cabana joining the two sides, public and private, of W Lounge. In this VIP area, a graphic work by Italian-based artistic team Carnovsky transforms depending on the light in the area, while fin-shaped screens create a wave effect in the lounge and bar areas, sea urchin patterns and dark and moody coral colors evoke a nautical party feel, and the Nautica hanging chair by Mut design acts as a contemporary take on the traditional use of rattan.
