Therme Group has unveiled plans for Therme Dubai – Islands in the Sky, a wellness destination set to rise in Zabeel Park as part of the UAE city’s Quality of Life Strategy 2033.
Designed by New York-based architecture firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro, the 500,000-square-foot complex will feature a striking 328-foot-tall structure that blurs the boundaries between nature and urban living.
Therme Dubai’s futuristic design
With panoramic views of the city skyline, Therme Dubai will immerse guests in a lush, multi-sensory retreat. The concept features floating botanical gardens, stacked terraces, and cascading pools filled with restorative thermal and mineral waters.
“Elevated high above the concerns of everyday urban life, Therme Dubai is an oasis in the sky,” says Elizabeth Diller, founding partner of Diller Scofidio + Renfro. “It emerges from the lake of a revitalized Zabeel Park as a series of botanical islands stacked into a tower.”
“Guests are immersed in unique environments—warm and cool, wet and dry, the intense heat of saunas and steam rooms and the ambient temperature of thermal pools and cool mineral pools,” Diller continues. “By day, the atmosphere is contemplative and relaxing. By night, the spaces come alive with music, artistic performances, and events. DS+R is thrilled to take part in the convergence of Therme’s innovative approach to the tradition of public baths and Dubai’s legacy for landmark architecture.”
Built with sustainability in mind
Committed to minimizing environmental impact, Therme Dubai will integrate Therme Group’s advanced sustainable technologies. The resort will recycle 90 percent of the water used in its thermal pools, while 80 percent of fresh air and cooling needs will be met through clean energy sources. Smart resource management and energy-efficient systems will further reduce the project’s ecological footprint.
Construction is set to begin in 2026 with completion anticipated by 2028.
