Tao Group Hospitality has grown the footprint of its signature brand LAVO with the launch of a new outpost in West Hollywood. Venice Beach, California-based firm Studio Collective crafted LAVO Ristorante with a light, West Coast sensibility that reinterprets the charms of its sister properties.
“LAVO Ristorante on Sunset proves as intimate as it is cinematic, combining Italian charm with modern details that are distinctly California,” says Studio Collective principal Christian Schulz.
The airy triple-height restaurant transports guests from the Sunset Strip the seaside of southern Italy with bespoke furnishings and a colorful palette featuring sensuous textiles and feminine details reminiscent of Mediterranean glamour.
A slew of natural materials—from checkered black and white marble floors to creamy plaster walls, warm wood tones, and antique brass fixtures—enliven the space with a sense of timelessness, while plush banquettes and lush greenery opulently line the indoor-outdoor dining room. “We specifically sourced and featured many of these natural materials for their ability to patina beautifully over time, getting better with age like a fine Italian ‘Barolo’ wine,” Schulz adds.
Marble-topped cocktail tables are also installed below a dramatic double-height skylight and mouth-blown glass chandeliers. Influenced by Italianate architecture, a horse-shaped bar effortlessly conjures a sense of elegance alongside a bar-height velvet banquette.
