Italian street food concept Piada has unveiled its second location in Lyon, France. Crafted by Spain-based creative studio Masquespacio, the centrally located piadina shop emphasizes the convergence of old and new, while mimicking some design elements found in Piada’s original outpost.
“The owners, a French brother and sister whose mother is of Italian origin, wanted to bring the Italian kitchen and heritage of their mother to France,” says Masquespacio cofounder and marketing director Christophe Penasse. “With the opening of the second Piada and with the perspective to open more spaces in the future, we agreed with the client to evolve the established design and at the same time incorporate some elements that could be reused in future openings like stools and tables.”
Classic Italian-style bars are installed throughout the interior along with abundant greenery that complements a palette of purple, green, and blue pastels. Artisan tiles, stucco, and light wood further amplify the color story, while arched gold lamps and notes of marble infuse a sense of Italian stateliness.
“It was also important for them to represent [the space] as a fast-food kitchen with healthy standards,” Penasse adds. “Lyon is still one of those cities where design experience is at an early stage, so we think Piada definitely stands out.”
