Rüya Istanbul has opened its doors within the historic Çırağan Palace Kempinski, bringing its Anatolian culinary concept back to its roots following successful international outposts in Dubai, Cannes, and Riyadh.
A tapestry of cultural heritage at Rüya
Conran & Partners conceptualized the interiors as a stage for the region’s rich culinary history. The spatial journey begins at the entrance, where guests are welcomed by folding screens adorned with dervish figures.
Throughout, the restaurant’s design identity draws heavily upon the intersection of Eastern and Western influences, reinterpreting the legacies of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires via modern materials, patterns, and textures.
Overhead, custom pendant lights serve as a core visual identifier for the space, echoing the grandeur of Byzantine architecture. These commanding fixtures are grounded by the intricate patterns and textures of traditional Turkish carpets, as well as partitions situated throughout the dining room that feature the eight-pointed Seljuk Star.
This deep-rooted cultural symbolism is carefully balanced by structural tiled columns and Rüya’s signature turquoise tables, which serve as a vibrant anchor for its visual identity. The narrative extends to the lounge area, which features a bespoke bar that speaks to the restaurant’s overarching palatial vision.
The design finds its ultimate breath on the restaurant’s terrace, which functions as a lush sanctuary that opens directly onto the manicured gardens of Çırağan Palace.
