Chef Henrique Sá Pessoa, the owner of Lisbon’s two-Michelin-starred Alma, has debuted his first restaurant in the U.S.
Launched in partnership with Sault Hospitality, Sereia is located in the Coconut Grove section of Miami. The 125-seat venue includes indoor and outdoor dining, a full bar, crudo bar, and a private dining room for up to 12 guests.
Sereia’s ocean-inspired design
Sereia, which is Portuguese for “mermaid,” pays homage to the ocean via its interior design by Miami- and Dubai-based Bishop Design.
Cream tones grace countertops and tables, while natural woods, curved furniture, and textured elements are incorporated throughout the space. Rich blue and green fabrics were also used to evoke the essence of the Iberian coast.
Subtle, ambient lighting installed beneath the banquettes and around the base of the wave-like bar creates the illusion of a floating effect.
Cobbled flooring runs underfoot, evoking the ambiance of al fresco dining in the charming streets of Portugal, too.
