Marking Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas’ debut in Ireland and its seventh European property, Anantara the Marker Dublin Hotel has opened following a multimillion-dollar renovation of the Docklands destination’s guestrooms; a lobby and bar refurbishment; and the addition of a new restaurant, Forbes Street by Gareth Mullins.
“Created by the esteemed TBC Interiorismo in Spain, in collaboration with the talented in-house team at Anantara, the design concept is a testament to innovation and artistic vision,” says Michael Davern, general manager. “Our Irish heritage is seamlessly woven into the architectural framework, showcasing an approach that resonates with all those visiting our home.”
The contemporary architectural identity created by Martha Schwartz Partners evokes the majestic Cliffs of Moher in County Clare, which rise from the earth to protect Ireland’s western coastline from the Atlantic Ocean. Ascending out of Grand Canal Square, the building’s rooftop reveals 360-degree views across Dublin, the mountains, and the Irish Sea.
Madrid-based TBC Interiorismo created a luxury sense of comfort in the 187 bedrooms through polished timber paneling and custom millwork with smoked mirrors. Juxtaposing these sleek finishes is a very Irish surprise, traditional throws from Foxford Woollen Mills that, since 1892, have exemplified Irish craftsmanship.
Massive floor-to-ceiling windows offer panoramic views from the public areas, while large rugs with cloud motifs instill serenity and allude to the poetic words of famous Irish writers. Futuristic mesh pendant lights and expansive foliage installations suspended from the ceiling distinguish different areas. Sculptures by Irish sculptor Michael Warren honor the Docklands’ industrial legacy.
“Our ultimate priority is to ensure every guest feels genuinely welcomed,” says Davern. “We strive to create an atmosphere that effortlessly blends cultural immersion, comfort, and a touch of modern sophistication.”
