With the opening of JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi, the JW Marriott brand introduces its second property in Kenya.
Spanning 35 stories, the 315-room property, located in the Westlands commercial district, stands as the tallest hotel in the East African country and features five restaurants, a spa, swimming pool, fitness center, and eight event spaces.
New York-based George Wong Design conceived the hotel’s interiors in homage to Kenya’s great outdoors. With an earth-toned color palette of savannah browns, Maasai reds, terracotta, and safari greens, the property evokes an African adventure.
A curated art collection—comprising sculptures, handmade ceramics, wall murals, regional textiles, and more—portrays the story of the country’s natural landscape.
Onsite dining options include the all-day MIDI Café & Patisserie, Hudson Tavern Bar & Grill, and fine-dining venue Mughal. Slated to open later this year is Mr. Pang Sky Bar & Lounge, which will be housed on the 31st floor with an indoor lounge, outdoor terrace, and two private dining spaces, including a premium whiskey library.
An additional 51 serviced apartments are also scheduled to open later in the year. Situated on the uppermost floors of the tower, the units will be made for long-stay guests and family groups in one, two, and three-bedroom apartments.
“JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi perfectly embodies the city’s contemporary yet mindful urban lifestyle,” says Helen Leighton, vice president of luxury brands and communications for Europe, Middle East, and Africa at Marriott International. “The property combines the warmth of African hospitality with serene spaces where guests can disconnect from distraction, focus on the present moment, and reconnect with what matters most to them.”
