Nearly 150 years after the launch of its first luxury trains, Orient Express will hit the high seas with the world’s largest sailing vessel.
The Orient Express Silenseas will set sail on its maiden voyage in 2026 as part of a partnership between hospitality company Accor and shipyard Chantiers de l’Atlantique. The ship’s ornate interiors will be envisioned by architect Maxime d’Angeac, while Stirling Design International will fashion its exterior.
“The design of our boat is a perfect balance between the past and the future, it is a tribute to the golden age of the French Riviera, with very futuristic lines and great technological innovation,” d’Angeac says. “All this perfectly embodies the Orient Express brand, which with its 140 years of history has always been avant-garde. Orient Express has always had this vocation to project itself into the future.”
Like its predecessors on the railroad, Orient Express Silenseas will embody French refinement and a mastery of the art of living. Measuring 720 feet in length, the ship will be home to 54 suites, including a monumental 15,230-square-foot presidential suite.
Amenities will include a pair of swimming pools, a pair of restaurants, and a speakeasy bar. An amphitheater-style cabaret and a private recording studio will also be featured, as well as wellness facilities for spa treatments and meditation.
