Considering that the brand’s roots trace back to 19th-century Rome, the arrival of a Bulgari hotel in June (another is planned this year for Tokyo) is especially poignant. Nodding to the Middle Eastern Brutalism of the 1970s structure, the property celebrates the decade’s glamour with terrazzo flooring, silk drapery, and marble furniture, with the 90 rooms and suites touting original coffered concrete ceilings. True to the Ned brand, F&B is at the heart of the members club and hotel, and six venues, including Cecconi’s and the alfresco Hadika, add to its appeal.

Among the terraced, white-painted stucco townhouses of Bayswater in West London is the site of the former Whiteleys, one of the city’s first department stores. The Art Deco building maintains its original façade, dome, and central courtyard—as well as its staircase redolent of the one at La Scala opera house in Milan—but will be spruced up with reclaimed wood furniture, contemporary British artwork, and a 3,500-square-foot signature wellness retreat.

Soho House Mexico City

The brand’s first property in Latin America, the forthcoming 98-room Soho House Mexico City will revive a former historic residence in Colonia Juárez with a design that reflects the area’s French influences and baroque heritage. A mix of locally made and vintage furnishings that celebrate Mexican craftsmanship will be enhanced by more than 100 artworks crafted by artists born, based, or trained in Mexico. Fittingly, the property with be anchored by a trio of F&B concepts, including an outdoor pool and pool house bar that recall a European greenhouse.

Treehouse Hotel Sunnyvale, California

SH Hotels & Resorts brings the Treehouse brand to the U.S. with its Sunnyvale location. Debuting later this year, much of the 254-room property was constructed offsite using modular methods to reduce environmental impact. Further aligning with the environmentally conscious brand’s ethos, trees felled in construction will be reclaimed and crafted by local artists into sculptures fashioned onsite.

Warren Street Hotel, New York

First came the Crosby Street Hotel in SoHo, then the Whitby Hotel in Midtown. Now, Tim and Kit Kemp, founders of Firmdale Hotels, are ramping up their New York presence with the Warren Street Hotel, set to open in Tribeca in September. In addition to 12 residences, the industrial-inspired new-build stitches together a drawing room, orangery, day-to-night restaurant and bar, and 57 guestrooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, all awash in the whimsy defining Kit’s eponymous design practice.
