To extend the Wave Resort’s appeal beyond the summer season, New York firm Ovadia Design Group was enlisted to reimagine key public spaces.
The transformation of the New Jersey property aimed to create a welcoming, year-round destination for both Jersey Shore locals and seasonal visitors.
Having spent summers along the shore, Ovadia Design Group principal Jack Ovadia took the opportunity to craft an inviting, versatile environment that’s an extension of its coastal surroundings.
Upon visiting the site, Ovadia noted a disconnect between the resort’s branding and its existing lobby and café. These spaces have since evolved into a bar and lounge designed to support lively gatherings as well as intimate moments.
The lounge was reimagined as a collection of cozy vignettes, which allows guests to experience the space in various ways, across various seasons. A fireplace made from soft pink Rosa Norvegia marble anchors the space, while richly textured seating and accessories add further impact.
Natural materials—like marble, stone, and wood—are featured prominently, and a carefully curated gallery wall with modern, nature-inspired artwork elevates the ambiance.
The preexisting bar, refreshed with natural stone panels imported from Italy, now serves as a focal point. Meanwhile, turquoise accents and sculptural sconces add depth, and a wave-like ceiling design guides guests intuitively around the space.
Intended to evoke youthfulness while remaining understated, the Wave Resort’s atmosphere embodies a coastal vacation without feeling overwhelming. The soft pink, teal, and white color palette brings a laidback tropical feel to the Jersey Shore.
