The founding partners of design firm AvroKO—Kristina O’Neal, William Harris, Greg Bradshaw and Adam Farmerie—have launched HOST on Howard in Manhattan’s Soho neighborhood.
The gallery and gathering space showcases “tools for gathering,” including hospitality-grade furniture and lighting, service trolleys, and an array of elevated art and design objects.
The design of HOST on Howard
The Soho space “houses both stories and objects in unison,” says Farmerie, “with the intent to welcome in others who care deeply about the world of hospitality too.”
Upon entry, visitors step into a dramatic hall painted in hues of moss and hunter green. Moving through the first archway, the gallery opens into a thoughtfully curated space, with vignettes of furniture, lighting, and sculptural pieces. Anchoring this room are five high-design service carts perched on elevated on jewel-toned platforms.
A second arch leads to the centerpiece of the gallery—a grand, horseshoe-shaped bar equipped with top-tier barware, designed to seat 10 guests.
“HOST is our celebration of hospitality as a ritual for both gathering and belonging,” explains O’Neal. “As part of our daily business, we are constantly creating objects that bring people together and enhance our shared experiences.”
More than just a gallery
Focusing on timeless design and craftsmanship, HOST on Howard will present rotating exhibitions of AvroKO’s signature collections alongside curated pieces from other makers. The debut showcase, The Paradisa, channels the idea of Eden’s utopian garden, reflecting the roots of hospitality as an abundant, shared experience.
The venue will host events—ranging from private salons and F&B celebrations to discussions and pop-ups—that explore hospitality’s intersection with art and design.
“Hospitality, at its core, is about creating meaningful connections that remind us we’re all part of something bigger,” O’Neal adds. “Through our design process, we’re not just shaping hospitable objects—we hope we’re creating experiences that foster a more connected and hospitable world.”
HOST on Howard is open Monday through Friday, by appointment only.
