Los Angeles’ vibrant Venice Beach neighborhood will soon be home to wellness-focused members club HUME. The brainchild of Roger Briggs and Sandy Bole, HUME will occupy a 13,500-square-foot space steps from the ocean that was previously part of Snap Inc.’s headquarters.
Expected to open in early 2024, the wellness club was envisioned to promote self-care and a more balanced lifestyle via top-notch health facilities and custom equipment installed in a design-forward environment featuring abundant light and fresh air.
“The overall vision for HUME morphed into creating an oasis for holistic living, a space that allows you to get away and recharge on a consistent basis,” says Bole, who crafted the forthcoming club with the assistance of Vancouver firm Bricault Design and a network of local artists and designers.
The destination’s interiors will be defined by a minimal, natural palette that includes materials like earthy plaster, porous stones, cork, walnut, and sage green leaves.
“The main goal in designing the space was to inspire our members to see, smell, taste, hear, and feel—in the present moment,” Bole adds. “I dreamed of returning to a time and place preceding the digital age, where time felt slower, and experiences were tailored exclusively for the human body. The space was designed around the existing window openings, accentuating, and filtering the natural sunlight to create a cocoon specially conceived to nurture the body and soul, awaken the five senses, and go inward in a moment of peace and balance before redirecting that positive energy outward, to the other community members and to society.”
