Interior design studio Vitale was tasked with creating a new clinic for podiatrist Sergio Miralles that breaks the mold of traditional medical facilities.
Taking cues from Mediterranean coastal landscapes, the 4,000-square-foot clinic in Castellón, Spain features a reception and waiting area, six consultation and treatment rooms, and a comprehensive medical-surgical area with two large operating rooms.
The design concept aims to evoke a sense of wellbeing, optimism, and a connection to an environment that mirrors the sensations of an outdoor space.
The space is united through a palette of soft, natural tones reminiscent of skin, sand, and stones. Continuous vinyl flooring, designed for heavy use, was also installed throughout.
Ceramic latticework, inspired by coastal and outdoor structures, takes centerstage with its sinuously shaped design in varied configurations of self-supporting partitions. Beyond defining spaces with its interplay of light and shadow, the latticework creates a calm and welcoming atmosphere.
The main hallway comes to life with sections of latticework that subtly conceal the doors, while linear LED lighting across the hallway and other areas reinforces the modern feel of an advanced healthcare center.
