Georgia’s Lake Country, around a two-hour drive from Atlanta, is a true respite from the city, and after a significant renovation, the 257-key Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee now feels like an indulgent weekend home. Marzipan Design Studio and Black Sheep Interiors merged style and nostalgia, turning to hues of iron ore and white, and such materials as wood and wicker that take cues from the surrounding pine trees and docks.
Firepits are found on the private patios of the Fireside guestrooms, while shutters, wooden ladder towel holders, and freestanding soaking tubs adorn the executive suite bathrooms. Although the cottages are hushed and stately, it’s the three-story, four-bedroom Lake House—complete with a private pool, chef’s kitchen, and porches on every level—that’s a standout.
The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee was a finalist in the Resort project category at the 2021 HD Awards.
