The Rome EDITION

Built in the 1940s, the former bank building that now houses the 91-room Rome EDITION exemplifies the Rationalist architectural style. Every element—from the showcase marble staircase to the preserved original lamps and statues—marries the brand’s defining aesthetic with a sense of history. The pièce de résistance is the hotel’s courtyard garden, an indoor-outdoor haven adorned with more than 400 plants. The property comes amidst a growth spurt for the brand, including the arrival of its first Southeast Asian outpost, the Singapore EDITION, this fall.

One&Only Aesthesis, Glifada, Greece

The brand’s first resort in Greece is situated on the Athenian Riviera. Formerly the Asteria beach club, a celebrity hotspot dating back to the 1950s, the revamp remains true to those glamorous roots while conjuring One&Only luxury. To that end, the exterior slats of the curved central building mimic traditional Greek screens, while windows frame views of the main pool and Aegean Sea. The 127 bungalows and villas effortlessly flow between the outside spaces and interiors, where timber and local marble in shades of pearl white and sand meet stone feature walls and slatted timber pergolas.

Mondrian Bordeaux Les Carmes, France

For two centuries, the Hanappier and Calvet winery, near the Garonne river in Bordeaux, stood as a staple in the region until a fire destroyed the wine cellars in 1966. In 2018, the Pichet family embarked on the renovation of the historic stone façade to craft the 92-room hotel and Japanese restaurant with a design that links past and future, East and West. Colors derived from local stone and brick meet rough concrete reminiscent of the original building’s warehouses, while organically patterned carpets and warm, diffused light nod to the art of Japanese living.
