Neighborhood trattoria Bacetti, the latest concept from Simpatico Hospitality Group, has opened in the Echo Park section of central Los Angeles. Bacetti, which translates to “little kisses” in Italian, features a design concept by locally based Stayner Architects that pays homage to Roman traditions through a California-inspired lens.
“Much as you might find in Rome, the interiors are a combination of materials, textures, and details from various eras,” says Stayner principal Christian Stayner. “The terrazzo and streamlined espresso machine are straight out of Rome in the ’60s, but coexist with rough-hewn lumber and exposed brick from the ’20s, and with old-fashioned plates and table settings.”
Beneath original exposed fir beams and an airy central atrium, warmth permeates the softly lit dining room, which extends toward a sheltered sidewalk patio. Terrazzo lines the floors and adorns tables and countertops, while leather wraps booth seating. Original large-scale artworks by local photographer Matt Lipps comprising two backlit copper panels animated by dozens of silhouettes serve as key focal points throughout the clean, modern interior.
The new restaurant is located within the same 1928 bow-truss building as its sister bar, Tilda.
