The Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead has unveiled its new signature restaurant, Brassica. The eatery reimagines brasserie-style French culinary traditions through a Southern lens.
Brassica was crafted by New York studio BHDM Design to convey Southern hospitality and find harmony across all its spaces, which includes an intimate bar, the sophisticated Peacock Alley lounge, and the enchanting Solarium. “While upscale, we wanted the scale of the space and the inviting details to make the space approachable,” says BHDM principal and owner Dan Mazzarini.
Atlanta’s reputation as a “city within the forest” informs Brassica’s neoclassical aesthetic and its floral motifs. Gilded Art Deco-style wallcoverings ensconce banquettes in the bar, echoing the patterns of the oak bar face. Aged bronze infuses warmth in tandem with leather upholstery and wool drapery, while ribbed glass filters in daylight and animates the area with texture. Custom cerused white oak millwork stretches from the bar into the dining room along with custom patterned floors. Gradient wallpaper elevate the dining room with texture beneath a custom white gold dogwood pendant chandelier as well.
The Solarium delivers a counterpoint to the bar and dining room with velvety green tones that channel a garden. Situated in an enclosed, formerly exterior, balcony, the space further honors the greenhouse theme with an illuminated trellis and custom pendants that embody a bronze dogwood motif.
Waldorf Astoria’s signature Peacock Alley rounds out Brassica complete with handpainted willow branches and flower petals and silver-leafed ceilings. Custom white gold leafed sconces elevate subtle neutral upholstery as well.
