Italian restaurant Nardó has opened its doors in West Hollywood, California with interiors by locally based Francesca Grace.
Grace’s design concept fuses authentic Italian flair with a maximalist aesthetic that speaks to both her Italian heritage and eclectic Los Angeles lifestyle.
Warm tones, velvets, and fringed pieces are used generously to create an environment that evokes the feeling of enjoying dinner at a chic friend’s elegant but cozy home.
The main dining area features a striking wallpapered ceiling against a two-toned green color palette. The monochromatic moment is punctuated by pink rust tones via dark viola marble tables and pink Murano glass lights from Italy.
In the next dining room, dubbed the chapel room, a soaring ceiling is grounded by a wall mural, designed by Grace’s sister, that “feels like it’s been here forever,” she says in a video tour of the space. “I didn’t want anything to feel too new, so it was designed in a way that gives it this almost antique Roman feeling.” Cream-toned velvet banquette seating ties all the colors of the space together.
Upstairs, in the balcony seating, a vintage Italian café sensibility pervades thanks to the generous use of red and white patterns paired with wooden chess tables, which creates a cozier environment for private events.
The Italian café vibe carries through to the outdoor patio area, where a light blue and white color scheme and abundant greenery take the stage.
