Collegio alla Querce, part of the Auberge Resorts Collection, will begin accepting reservations in March 2025.
On a hillside overlooking Florence’s UNESCO-listed historic center, the 16th-century property—which served as a boarding school for more than a century—has been transformed into a 83-room resort that honors its storied past.
The vision was brought to life by Spanish architects Esteva i Esteva, with local firm ArchFlorence overseeing the interiors, including the guestrooms and suites, five dining venues, and spa.
Upon arrival, guests will be welcomed into a nature-ensconced sanctuary, with expansive lawns cascading through four levels of terraced gardens restored by landscape designer Franchesca Watson. The verdant grounds lead to a serene swimming pool and oak-fringed bar and restaurant.
A sneak peek into Collegio alla Querce
Inside, the 66 guestrooms and 16 suites (including the 2,300-square-foot Quercia Suite) boast stunning views and luxurious finishes.
The Quercia Suite stands out with two living rooms, a butler’s kitchen, and a rooftop terrace complete with a private plunge pool.
The design combines Renaissance art with modern Italian design. Original features, like handpainted frescoes and coffered wood ceilings, are juxtaposed with contemporary furnishings and rich colors.
F&B concepts
The property’s dining options include destination restaurant La Gamella, the atrium-inspired Conservatorio, poolside restaurant and bar Café Focolare, and cigar and cocktail bar Bar Bertelli, which is located in the former principal’s office.
“We are thrilled to expand our European footprint by welcoming Florence and Collegio alla Querce into the Auberge family,” said Christian Clerc, president and CEO of Auberge Resorts Collection. “Collegio alla Querce has long been a Florence icon and an integral part of the fabric of this globally beloved city. We are immensely excited to transform this jewel into Europe’s finest urban resort, where locals and guests can enjoy a highly curated lifestyle experience defined by cultural and artistic enrichment, outstanding gastronomy, and unforgettable moments.”
Collegio alla Querce’s launch will be followed by the opening of Cambridge House, Auberge Resorts Collection in Mayfair, London in late 2025.
