The new Hôtel Belle Plage, the latest entry in La Clé Group‘s portfolio, is set to open in the Le Suquet section of Cannes, France. Against the backdrop of the Esterel mountains, the seaside destination has been upgraded by architect Raphael Navot into a design-driven retreat that promotes comfort above all. “When you come in the hotel and even from far, it should not resemble much of what you might have at home,” Navot says. “The materials and ambiance along with the furniture and accessories should evoke an emotion of liberty and joy. Both calm and dynamic—like a good vacation can be.”
Much of the original structure was retained, including a distinctive wave-like motif that ripples across the façade to establish privacy in each accommodation without compromising views. Rust-toned brick roofing also remains intact to echo the landscape and contrast deep blue tones that recall the sea. Alongside FAAR Architects, Navot elegantly channels the timeless design vernacular of the French Riviera with a contemporary angle. A natural materiality composed of wood, stone, and terrazzo is featured along with plaster—a fixture of the coastal hotel aesthetic.
Each of the 50 suites, 10 private residences, and one penthouse share a color palette anchored by azure hues and offset by organic sand tones. The accommodations are populated by custom furnishings, including bookcases shaped like ocean coral, canework chairs, dark wood nightstands, and minimalist light fixtures.
Among the onsite amenities is Mediterranean rooftop eatery Bella and the 8,600-square-foot Villa Spa, which is located upon the hotel gardens.
