La Fantaisie has opened its doors in the Faubourg-Montmartre neighborhood of Paris’ 9th arrondissement. Located along Rue Cadet, the 73-key boutique hotel (part of family-owned Leitmotiv group) boasts fantastical, layered interiors by London- and New York-based Martin Brudnizki Design Studio (MBDS).
“Situated in the beating heart of South Pigalle, we see La Fantaisie as a truly unique hotel not just in the neighborhood but in the heart of Paris,” describes MBDS founder Martin Brudnizki. “Steeped in interesting history and providing a truly enchanting experience, the hotel offers an outdoor garden experience that cannot be found anywhere else.”
The secret garden—as well as the overall design concept—pays homage to brothers and master gardeners Jacques and Jean Cadet, whom Rue Cadet is named after. “Each floor of the hotel is a representation of an ever-growing garden where the floral motifs become more elaborate,” Brudnizki adds. “From intricate mosaic design to custom rose wallpaper by Adam Ellis, there is an abundance of flora and fauna treatments.”
La Fantaisie’s accommodations span 63 guestrooms and 10 suites crafted as tranquil retreats that juxtapose the lively urban environment outside. Each space is bedecked with a color palette of soft greens, warm yellows, and hints of coral.
Zero-waste restaurant Golden Poppy is also featured onsite. Helmed by Michelin-starred chef Dominique Crenn, who makes her return to France after three decades in the U.S., Golden Poppy is characterized by a glass roof that connects the restaurant to the outdoors, conjuring a relaxed atmosphere.
