Nestled in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, Primland, Auberge Resorts Collection has unveiled a redesign that captures back-to-nature luxury and a Southeastern sensibility.
The renovation, handled in collaboration with Chad Dorsey Design, introduces refreshed public spaces; a new signature restaurant, Leatherflower; and the addition of two mountaintop suites.
At the heart of Primland is the lodge, which boasts several reimagined gathering spaces featuring a mix of custom furnishings and antique pieces.
In the study, a desk and built-in bookshelves display locally sourced artwork, books, and artifacts, while plaid and floral fabrics add depth and texture. Two fireplaces with handcrafted wooden mantels anchor the room, which is enveloped in rich marigold wallcoverings depicting Virginia’s dense forest landscape.
“Inspired by elements that define a quintessential Virginia inn, we maintained the property’s spirit and warmth throughout the common areas by blending elements that are reflective of local tradition,” says studio founder Chad Dorsey. “The use of warm textiles and details such as American quilts and regionally inspired by Kyle Bunting mix with contemporary touches throughout the spaces to align with the resort’s world-class amenities.”
The revitalization project also introduces Leatherflower, the property’s newest farm-to-table restaurant.
Inside, exposed beams, floral grasscloth wallcovering, and expansive windows frame views of the 18-hole championship-caliber golf course outside. Elegant dining tables paired with upholstered chairs and banquettes are rendered in vibrant patterns in shades of blue, green, coral, and cream that capture the spirit of the outdoors.
Built into the trees and perched above the Dan River Gorge, Primland’s “Mountain Top Tree House” suites harness vistas of the surrounding Kibler Valley. Guests of these accommodations also receive access to exclusive custom programming and dining experiences.
